1968 Toyota 800 Pickup (UP26) Series P20
Report: Toyota to expand 86 lineup with a shooting brake and micro pickup truck!
In addition to the formerly designated “GT86" sportscar, the brand will develop a tiny pickup known as the “UP26.” A fictional Toyota Representative confirms,
“The 86 pickup is conceptually feasible. It is a very logical move to slot a driver focused small pickup between the 86 and Tacoma that also celebrates the 1966-1969 Toyota Publica Pickup’s 50th Anniversary and Toyota’s own rich heritage in trucking. Toyoda-sama was very grateful to Jerry in the Mailroom for mentioning the Publica last week while trying to fix the breakroom’s Keurig.”
Production should begin in 2019, making it as if this generation of Publica ‘had never left the market.’ Honda Ridgeline and Hyundai Santa Cruz look out, a true startup contractor’s truck is about to hit the market!

It’s always funny to me how American painters, plumbers etc somehow need a massive van and in Japan I see kei vans and trucks.

It occurred to me the other day that a big reason for a carmaker to avoid making utes of All The Things was the issue of stiffness and loss of the roof strength going to a short cab. However, there is a whole class of vehicles that features... well, no roof, and already is two-door. Convertibles. I think you know where I’m going with this - MIATRUCK.
